Regal Duct Cleaning Process

During the cleaning, the HVAC unit is placed under negative pressure (with a HEPA filter vacuum) to prevent the spread of contaminants through your home.  Using portable equipment, our technicians go to each supply vent in your home putting positive pressure to dislodge dust and debris into the air stream that the HEPA vacuum produces. This portable equipment allows us to get the hard to reach areas of your duct system.

We offer an organic deodorizer to rid your system of any standing odors, such as cigarette smoke, animal odor, or even the odors of everyday cooking. This deodorizer is included in our cleaning packages.

We are proud of our work and provide visual proof of YOUR duct system upon request.

Air Duct Cleaning FAQs

What COVID-19 guidelines do you follow?

With COVID-19 being a major concern within our state, we continue to take the necessary precautions to follow Coronavirus (COVID-19) safety guidelines. Our technicians wear PPE gear inside of your home, including facemasks, gloves, and booties.  Our duct cleaning equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and inspected after each customer to reduce spread of potential contaminants. Safety, health and cleanliness is our goal.

Why should I have the air ducts cleaned?

It is important to have the air ducts of your home cleaned. The furnace is constantly recycling and recirculating the air inside of your home. This cycle of air pulls along dust and other microscopic particles. If left untreated, this will coat the air ducts adding restriction of the airflow and causing undue stress to the furnace. In addition to a less than efficient air flow, air quality and the lifespan of your HVAC unit will be affected. There are many benefits to having duct work cleaned, as we address further in subsequent FAQs.

What are the benefits of HVAC air duct cleaning?

There are numerous benefits and scientific research proving the benefits of having clean ductwork. The most common feedback we hear is, “We can breathe better!” “Less allergies!” “My home is less dusty!” These, along with the reasons below, are true benefits of having clean air ducts in your home maintained with routine cleaning services.

1. Improves Air Flow Efficiency

When the ductwork and vents are filled with dust, debris, buildup and grime, it reduces the efficiency of the air flow to your home. This will make the furnace work harder to blow cool or hot air through the vents. Dirty ducts and vents may restrict the air flow and can possibly contribute to the lack of air balance while heating or cooling the home.

2. Cleaner Living, Less Dust

If you notice, there might be dust collecting on your furniture and home a lot more frequently than it should be. This is usually because the air coming from the ductwork is taking along with it the dust and particles sitting in the ductwork. This is a cause for concern, not only because it is a nuisance, but think of all the small dust particles floating through the air you breathe!

 3. Reduce Allergens, Healthier Air

Unclean air ducts can affect your health. According to the Environmental Protective Agency (EPA), the air in our homes has been found to be up to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air. Air ducts are a thriving abode for allergens and other irritants, in the form of dust, pollen, spores, bacteria, chemicals and pet dander. In fact, over half of all homes contain at least 6 detectable allergens, according to the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology.

Duct cleaning will rid the sitting allergens in the ductwork to stop the continuous cycle of allergens that could be contributing to larger health issues. These harboring contaminants could cause serious problems for people with respiratory health conditions, autoimmune disorders or environmental allergies.

4. Removes Unpleasant Standing Odors

Odors from everyday cooking, household cleaning agents, pets, tobacco use, paint or chemical fumes all contribute to the stale smells in the air ducts, which circulate with the air throughout the house. A buildup of dust and debris may produce a musty smell as well. These unwanted odors are removed with the duct work cleaning. Along with the duct cleaning, we offer an organic deodorizer to assist in leaving your home fresh and clean.

5. Improve HVAC Efficiency, Saving You Money

The efficiency of the HVAC unit gets compromised if ductwork is not maintained properly. The HVAC unit will work harder and run longer while trying to push air through to your home. The increase in energy put out by the HVAC unit will put a dent in your wallet, as well as shorten the lifespan of your HVAC unit. Based on the initial research done by NADCA in 2008, cleaning a lightly-fouled system provides, on average, an 11% savings off of the energy used for heating and air conditioning.

Does it make a mess through my home?

No! We pride ourselves in our work and have procedures for cleaning as we go. Our portable H.E.P.A. (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration vacuum system places the ductwork under a Negative Air Pressure, ensuring that all of the dislodged dust and debris will be collected and trapped into our H.E.P.A. filtration vacuum system and removed from your home.

How can I prepare for the duct cleaning? Do you need access to all the vents?

Yes, it is best for the technicians to have access to all of the vent registers and furnace during the inspection and cleaning process. Please make sure there is space cleared for access.

We do understand if this is not always possible due to heavy furniture or other circumstances. In the case that there is a blocked vent, our technicians will use their skills and training to clean ductwork of the blocked vent in the best way possible.

How often should my ducts be cleaned?

The air ducts in your home need to be cleaned at least every 3-5 years, according to most HVAC experts and associations. This is a general recommendation and there are factors that would indicate more frequent duct cleanings are necessary, so you should be comfortable in determining the best maintenance practices for your home.

We recommend air duct cleaning every 1-2 years if your family has;

  • Sensitivity to allergens, air borne dust and microscopic organisms
  • Indoor pets who shed hair or dander
  • Indoor smoking and/or use of a fireplace
  • Live in an area with a high outdoor air pollution level
  • Renovations or remodeling recently done to your home
  • Evidence of contamination to the HVAC system or home

Even with frequently replacing filters in the HVAC unit, the air ducts are going to collect debris. There will be particles that escape through the filter or enter the system via the vents. Taking care of the HVAC system is an essential part of home maintenance.

How important is air duct cleaning?

VERY IMPORTANT!

Whether you are a homeowner or a tenant, everyone relies on their heating and cooling systems to keep them warm during the frosty winters and cool during the hot and humid summers. As the system is working hard to keep your home comfortable, its also pulling in airborne particles such as dust, pet dander, bacteria, allergens,  pollen, and dust mites. Over time these particles combine together on the duct surface and inside the furnace. This build-up of contaminants leads to restriction of the airflow, adding stress on the furnace and its components. This stress reduces the lifetime of your furnace. Causing the need for costly repair or even a full replacement of the furnace.

When the furnace runs with dirty ducts the contaminates lining the air ducts are lifted up into the airflow and carried back out into your home reducing the quality of your home’s air.

To cover all aspects of maintaining the cleanliness of your duct system, we offer a variety of cleaning packages to fit your needs.

Some occupants are more sensitive to these contaminants than others. Allergy and asthma sufferers, as well as young children and the elderly tend to be more susceptible to the types of poor indoor air quality that air duct cleaning can help address.

According to The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) ” When an HVAC system is clean, it doesn’t have to work as hard to maintain the temperature you desire. As a result, less energy is used, leading to improved cost-effectiveness.”
